China Southern Airlines Adds the 6th Boeing 777 Freighter to its Cargo Fleet

--A fleet of 8 freighters now

The 6th Boeing 777-200F, an all-cargo aircraft bought by China Southern Airlines arrived safely at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 14:47, December 22, marking that China Southern Airlines' cargo fleet is expanded to 8 freighters including two B747-400Fs and six B777-200Fs.

The new freighter is expected to come into service in January 2012. It is learned that China Southern Airlines plans to build new airport cargo terminals in Qingdao and other domestic cities and increase the cargo transport capacity in Guangzhou by virtue of its newly increased capacity.

China Southern Airlines aims at hot and emerging markets in this year to speed up the construction of freight route network, with routes of Pudong-Los Angeles-Vancouver-Pudong and Amsterdam-Chongqing-Pudong-Amsterdam opened. Up to now, China Southern Airlines operates 6 freight routes, with 26 cargo flights to nine airports in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Vienna, Vancouver, Chicago, and Los Angeles every week for all-cargo services. As the carrier with the largest fleet size and the most advanced route network in China, China Southern Airlines is able to provide belly cargo transport services densely covering China, radiating to Asia and connecting to major cities in Europe, America, Australia and Africa.

Since joining in the SkyTeam Cargo in November 2010, China Southern Airlines, by virtue of the influence of the SkyTeam Cargo, has improved its service by joining hands with global customer development channels and adopting the standards of the SkyTeam Cargo, and further enhanced its competitiveness by expanding business through cooperation with SkyTeam Cargo members. As China's first airline joining in CARGO 2000 in October this year, China Southern Airlines has a new standing in air cargo market, attracting some international logistic companies to actively seek friendly cooperation. It is reported that China Southern Airlines is test running the CARGO 2000 standards in selected routes, which is expected to be completed by the end of January 2012 and meet all quality standards of CARGO 2000 within one year.
