Guangzhou, China—At 11:40 p.m. on 31 December 2007, China Southern Airlines’ flight CZ3206, operated by Airbus A320, landed smoothly at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, marking the airline has successfully achieved a safety year in 2007.
As such, China Southern Airlines has recorded 162 consecutive months for safe flight operations and accumulated 4.6 Million hours safely flown and was honored the Four-Star Flight Safety Award by the CAAC- the current most prestigious award in safe flight operations in the Chinese aviation industry. China Southern carried 56 million passengers, accomplished 9.187 Billion tonne-kilometers and gained profit of RMB 240 Million in 2007.Currently, China Southern Airlines has operated 330 modern Airbus and Boeing jet aircrafts, as well as the most extensive domestic air network, the largest passenger traffic volume and the largest & the most technologically advanced airline fleet in The People’s Republic of China. And in 2007, the carrier gained double harvests both in safety and revenue.

In the chilly wind, Mr. Liu Shaoyong, Chairman of China Southern Airlines, together with other senior managers, presented the fresh flowers to the last flight’s aircrew in 2007 that were stepping down the gangway, and gave the warmest blessing and thankfulness to them.

China Southern Airlines has been persisting in the guideline of “Safety First, Preventing Mainly”, intensified the construction of safety advance alarm mechanism and guarantee system and increased scientific and technological launch for guaranteeing the safety, which resulted in 1.075 Million safe flight hours, 4500 general aviation flights and 546692 landings/take-offs in one year. China Southern Airlines has been ranked #1 in terms of flight hours, landings/take-offs and annual passenger traffic volume in the Chinese aviation industry for consecutive 29 years and has been the only mainland Chinese carrier to enter into the world Top Ten passenger transport airlines for consecutive two years.

In 2007, China Southern Airlines enhanced its “Three-Network Construction”-the construction in route network, sales & marketing network and service network, and launched “Premium Service Year” widely so as to realize its transformation into an international airline with larger scale and denser network. The advanced service channels of China Southern Airlines have been extended, including E-ticketing, Internet Check-In, City Check-In, Mobile Phone Check-In, Self-Service Airport Check-In, etc. On 15 November 2007, China Southern Airlines officially joined the SkyTeam, one of the three global airline alliances. Through one of the world’s most extensive hub networks, China Southern advanced the double-hub construction of Guangzhou and Beijing and closely cooperated with the other SkyTeam members to offer its passengers convenient flights covering 841 destinations in 162 countries. On 8 September 2007, China Southern Airlines was honored with an "Outstanding Contribution to Society Award” at the forum for "Social Responsibility and Harmonious Society 2007" which was organized by Xinhua News Agency. China Southern was the only civil aviation enterprise to win this title.
