China Southern Set To Launch All-New A330 Luxury Experience

GUANGZHOU, China – September 24 -- Ready for something very special?

China Southern Airlines will be launching an all-new First Class and Business Class travel experience with all-new Airbus A330 – available this coming November 2007.

The airline will be offering world class amenities and enhanced cabin layout to ensure that passengers experience a journey of the utmost in luxury while feeling like they’re at “Home in the Air”.

Maximum Comfort

To maximize passenger comfort, China Southern has adopted a three-class layout on board the new A330-300 with four seats in First Class and 24 seats in Business Class.

First Class is stocked with special amenities such as tailor-made “Apollo” seats designed by Contour in Britain. Similar to a cocoon, each First Class seat is 194cm long -  70cm wide and can be programmed to recline to 180 degrees at the touch of a button on the armrest.

Each seat comes with a footstool as high as the seat itself, and with the attached LCD, passengers can enjoy video on-demand via the in-flight entertainment system. To make the cabin even more spacious and lighter, designers removed the overhead compartment.

Business Class seating are nearly as roomy as those in First Class, with an inside length reaching 190cm and a width of 60cm – exceeding most passenger requirements.

Privacy

The new Apollo First Class seating on China Southern Airlines has been modeled  on those offered by future SkyTeam member Air France and adopts an innovative “cocoon design”. When the seat is laid flat, the back shell that surrounds the passenger functions like a curtain - offering passengers the ultimate in privacy to sleep or work in one’s own private suite.  

Additionally, above the seat there’s a snake-shaped, flexi-light allowing passengers can adjust the angle and the brightness to suit their needs. Another great feature is the special headsets at each seat, which are able to block out noise from the aisle allowing you to enjoy a good sleep in your cozy “cocoon”. 

Contour’s designs reflect the needs of the long-haul China Southern traveler - with the design of the footstool as an example. Not only does it provide more room for passengers to stretch out during a long trip but it also functions as a seat for someone to sit on.     

Also on board for long haul international flights are built-in seat back massagers in both First and Business Class, to refresh passengers. First Class seating offers a spacious fold-down table (60cm×40cm) - big enough for two laptops. There is also a clothes closet where passengers can stow large personal luggage as well as coats and jackets.

The multi-functional independent electricity supply at each seat can accommodate different kinds of laptops and the satellite telephone allows you to communicate freely with anyone. A decorative flower on the control panel adds the delicate touch to a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

Entertainment System

Watching in-flight movies has never been easier for First Class passengers who can now enjoy individual in-seat entertainment. Using their remote control, passengers can select their favorite programs and enjoy watching them on a crystal-clear, 15-inch LCD monitor.

From short comedy sketches, Chinese movies to the latest Hollywood blockbusters, China Southern will offer something to satisfy every viewer’s appetite. If listening to music is what you are interested in, the airline will have a large collection of music from the Beatles to Elton John and passengers can listen to their favorite music from one of eight available music channels - including classical and pop music.

“On-Demand Dining”

China Southern Airlines’ exclusive “On-Demand Dining” service offers passengers the convenience to order their meals and set their own dining times from the airport lounge - in advance of the flight.

The variety of cuisine on China Southern airlines has been completely upgraded with cocktail service available during long haul international flights and flights to Japan and Korea.

Chinese food is served on domestic flights.

Passengers can enjoy all kinds of delicacies served on delicate Chinese porcelain, colorful glass and stainless steel plates. After dining, passengers may enjoy a glass of claret from France, fresh orange juice from North America or a cup of freshly brewed tea.

Every passenger will also be presented with a silk book-bag containing newspapers and current periodicals.
