| China Southern Airlines Announces Mr. Liu Shao Yong As New Chairman GUANGZHOU, China ¨C December 1, 2004 ¨C The Board of Directors of China Southern Airlines (NYSE: ZNH, HKSE: 1055, SHA 600029) - www.csair.com/en - the largest airline in The People¡¯s Republic of China has accepted the resignation ¨C with deepest appreciation ¨C of Mr. Yan Zhi Qing as the Chairman of the Board. The announcement was made at the first Extraordinary General Meeting for the year 2004. Mr. Liu Shao Yong was born in November 1958 and he joined the Chinese aviation industry in 1978. Mr. Liu has served as President of China Eastern Airlines Company Limited from 2000 to 2002; Vice-Minister of the Civil Aviation Administration of China from 2002 to August 2004 and has been President of China Southern Air Holding Company since August 2004. Mr. Liu graduated from the Civil Aviation Flight University of China and earned an academic certificate in International Trade at TianjinUniversity of Finance & Economics in 1999.
