China Southern
Names New Israel Cargo Representative;
Substantial Israel-Based Freight Moving Into China
TEL AVIV, Israel, November 26, 2004 - China Southern Airlines (NYSE:
ZNH, HKSE: 1055, SHA 600029) - www.csair.com/en - the largest airline
in The People¡¯s Republic of China is pleased to announce that is has
retained Turbo China as its first ever cargo sales agent for Israel.
Currently moving freight from Israel to China, Turbo China ¨C founded
in 1987 - is already, ¡°handling between 30 to 40 inbound tons to China
per month and we are just getting started,¡± said Mr. Eran Zilberman,
General Manager, Turbo China. ¡°The opportunities for business between
Israel and China are incredible,¡± adding that his biggest challenge
is ¡°educating freight forwarders here in Israel on how we can quickly
and safely move their cargo to literally any destination within China
¡ and beyond.¡±
Based here at Ben-Gurion International Airport, Zilberman and his staff
handle all arrangements for their clients, even down to hand-pasting
airway bills on each shipment. ¡°We definitely believe in the ¡®human
touch,¡¯¡± said Zilberman.
Since China Southern currently offers no direct service between Israel
and China, all freight is moved on third-party carriers to the China
Southern Cargo hubs in either Amsterdam or Liege, Belgium ¡ and then
directly to Shanghai and beyond destinations.
¡°China Southern is not a small regional carrier but a major global
airline so we can send our customer¡¯s freight to any destination in
China such as Beijing, Chongqing and Guilin, as well as International
destinations including Sydney and Melbourne, via China Southern¡¯s extensive
system,¡± said Zilberman.
He added that as freight forwarders become more familiar with the far-reaching
China Southern network, ¡°we will definitely see a substantial level
of cargo moving from Israel to China via China Southern¡¯s European network.¡±
Turbo China is seeing significant increase in moving high tech equipment
including telephones, software devices and flat TV manufacturing equipment
from Israel into China.
